UPPER SCHOOL ENGLISH SUPPORT

Steiner Academy Exeter is an all-through academy which opened in September 2013. We currently have 440 pupils and will reach full capacity of 620+ pupils in 2021.

After being placed in Special Measures in October 2018, the acting Principal and Academy Management Committee have developed an exciting plan for improving the school, with access to a wide range of support and expertise from local and national agencies. The school is now entering a phase of redevelopment and transformation to bring the best of Steiner Waldorf education into a mainstream, state of the art provision in the heart of Exeter.

We are now looking to recruit an assistant to join our English department and work within the teaching team to help the new executive drive the school's improvement, ensuring pupils receive the full benefits of an excellent Steiner Waldorf education.

The postholder will be responsible for providing support for the teaching of GCSE English classes (years 9 - 11) including supporting drama and performance, enabling pupils to develop their full potential in the subject.

A commitment to the contemporary and professional articulation of Steiner Waldorf pedagogy in a positive engagement with broader educational practice is essential in this role.

Salary: £18,000 inc pension etc

Hours: Full Time (37.5)

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Exeter

The successful candidate will be inspirational, driven and demonstrate a passion for continual improvement. You will be committed to excellence in teaching, learning and training, have successful experience of delivering a balanced, creative curriculum. Understanding of the Steiner Waldorf currciulum would be an advantage.

CLASS TEACHER - Class 4 (Year 5)

We are now looking to recruit a teachers for Class 4 (year 5) to join our school in the second half of the Spring term 2019 to work with the Principal and new executive to drive the school's improvement, ensuring pupils receive the full benefits of an excellent Steiner Waldorf education.

The postholder will be responsible for teaching a class of up to 30 pupils from year 5 until the end of year 8/class 7, working closely within the Lower School to teach the Steiner Waldorf curriculum as it applies to a mainstream setting. There may also be opportunities for additional subject teaching, depending on specialist skills.

EXAMINATIONS OFFICER

The postholder will be responsible for co-ordinating all activities relating to internal and external examinations and assessments, including SATs, GCSEs, CATs and vocational qualifications.
