Class 9 Creating The Forge Workshop

Useful tools forged and beautiful jewellery made from recycled copper

16th January 2017

In September Class Nine students began working on creating The Forge Workshop in their morning sessions; clearing brambles from a corner of the Walled Garden in preparation for the shelter and digging clay from the stream on our site to build primitive pit-forges.

Since then they have sewn up the bellows, coppiced hazel ready for charcoal making, crafted beautiful jewellery pieces from recycled copper and forged several useful tools for the workshop. Ruth Gardiner Upper School Land Craft and Metal Work Teacher.
