Congratulations to Year 11

23rd August 2018

The staff and Governors at the Steiner Academy Exeter would like to congratulate their Year 11 leavers, 69% of whom have achieved at least a standard pass (grade 4 or better) in English Language, and 65% in both maths and science. 45% of students achieved merit or distinction for their spoken English and two thirds of our students achieved the highest possible grades (equivalent to A/A*) in Art.

This is our very first cohort of students to have taken GCSEs. They have achieved this whilst also working with the broad Steiner curriculum, with nearly all students studying all subjects, and not only those in which they were being examined.

As a school we embrace the challenge of exams and want our students to have high aspirations, but we always strive to balance this with creative, active and personal education alongside the academic.

The success of our students clearly shows that this education can lay solid foundations for them to become self-directed, focused and able to think creatively and responsibly, whilst never losing their appetite for learning!

We wish all our leavers every success as they move on to local colleges and other destinations.
